Dear  Friends,

Season’s greetings to one and all!

I welcome you all to the website of The Zoological Society of India,a new and exciting platform, aimed to spotlight the activities and achievements of the Society as a group and as each individual member for the benefit of the community in general and the academic and research bents of minds in particular. The website will provide an avenue for our members to share their ideas, findings, suggestions and to establish important contacts to facilitate the scientific exchange and collaborations to further the cause of the zoological and related sciences.

Another interesting feature of this website is access to the  biannual Journal  of the Zoological Society of India  entitled “Proceedings of the Zoological Society of India” a reputed, peer- reviewed and UGC Listed Journal (Serial No. 30488). All the journals of the Society will be made available online in the near future.

It gives me immense pleasure to inform that the Zoological Society of India which started with around 30 members at its inception has grown into a large professional body with nearly 1100 members today. During this period, the Society has made rapid strides under the inspiration of the dynamic leaderships and the zealous enthusiasm  and efforts of its members affiliated with educational and reseach institutions, private and government,  and including teachers, researchers, academicians, extension service personnel, administrators, students and hobbyists. It is a robust organization that has conducted 30 national conferences, five international and seven regional seminars /symposia. We hope that, with the goodwill and efforts of the members, the Society will grow from strength to strength and reach the zenith of academic excellence and research outreach in the coming years.

The premier event of the Society is its Annual General Meeting, the All India Congress of Zoology  held along with the organization of an academic event every year. Till date thirty All India Congresses of Zoology have been held annually accompanied by a seminar/ symposium/conference in collaboration with educational and research institutions. This annual event sees the congregation of the members of the Society  bringing together scholars from diverse disciplines  under the umbrella of zoological and related sciences to foster scientific deliberations by eminent personalities, personal research presentations and informal cooperative exchanges with peers and experts for mutual benefits of the attendees i.e. nurture of the young minds on the one hand and development of the older generations into motivating  inspirations on the other.

I take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks to the office bearers of Executive Council and all the bonafide members and fellows of the society for their kind co-operation, and to the elders for their blessings. I also welcome you to share your thoughts , innovative ideas, works, suggestion(s) and constructive criticisms too, which will help to improve and make our Society even better.

“ Success is not the key to happiness, happiness is the key to success.

If you love what you are doing, you will be successful”

Come! Let us work together for the continued success and glory of the Zoological Society of India.

Yours sincerely,

B.N. Pandey
